Jackie O’s wedding dress for her wedding to JFK in 1953 was designed by the African American designer Ann Lowe. She wasn’t credited openly at the time and even as a fashion designer I only just learned about her.
She also designed dresses worn by Oscar winners and debutantes. She worked for other houses and also ran her own eponymous line in New York for many years. She sought to “to prove that a Negro can become a major dress designer.” And her elite client list shows that she met her goal. She learned to sew from her mother and continued her trade even when glaucoma threatened her vision.
Had to share the history of this amazing black woman. Lighting a candle to her today.  clamberskull:

operafantomet:

Maud’s coronation dress from 1906. The dress was a collaboration between Vernon of London and Silkehuset in Oslo. The cut is amazing; the bodice and skirt is cut as one, and with an extravagantly long train. The fine silk gold lamé is overlaid with extraordinary amount of pearls, diamanté, sequins and embroidery. I especially like how the vertical decorations is pinched in the waist, to further emphasis her narrow figure. Note: the dress isn’t nearly as green as these photos indicate. The dress is in the care of Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in Oslo. The dress is alas currently not on display. These photos are from “The Royal Journey” in 2012. (photos by me).  operafantomet:

Rumplestiltskin - Price of Gold

I know it’s been said, by others, over and over again, but I just can’t help but say over and over again that this is the episode I realized I found him to be sexually attractive.

You are not alone… I was like wait… I think I’m suppose to be scared not turned on….

Is it strange that I never found him scary? XD

I never found him scary. Just suitably creepy. And then hot.

If they wanted us to find him scary they shouldn’t have had him strutting about like rock star, dressed all in leathers, while flamboyantly putting on a show. Which is to say that I clearly have always found Dark One Rumple damn sexy. Creepy too but definitely sexy.

Aaaand now I want to marathon season 1 again.
Maybe it’s a good time to marathon season 1 and 2. Just another few weeks and season 3 comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray and that thing will be in my hot little hands the day it comes out!

I thought Mr. Gold was sexy from the moment he popped up in that checkered shirt. I started finding Rumple sexy in this episode. Hot damn.

So much fucking swagger in one gifset I say gaddAYUM
